Southampton Hospital Haematology Centre
The nature of treatments in a Clinical Haematology centre means that often the patient will spend up to 6 weeks in individual isolation.
The design brief on this project was to create a pleasant 5-star hotel environment and minimise the ‘clinical hospital feel’ by using colours and hiding all of the services behind an attractive medical walling system.
Supply and installation included Virseal accessible IPS walls with integral bins and cabinets and medical service panels.
In the old unit, the users had identified a problem for medications dispensing in busy periods where staff needed to access the same stock and work in the same area at the same time creating a bottleneck. The new facility solves this problem by using a four colour zoned drugs preparation area with the same storage configuration repeated in each zone. This means that staff can do the same procedure in four different locations within the same room.
A central wash station area was created from Systeméd S200 marine ply core material for longevity, with a built-in bin facility and moulded corian worktop and sink bowl for ultimate infection control requirements.
The feedback from the patients has been very positive & the Project Leader said ‘I would definitely recommend your service & products – an excellent project all around.’ (Project Leader)
